About Marisa Halm
I am a passionate attorney and social justice leader who has dedicated my career to defending and advancing the rights of underrepresented populations, namely youth and young adults of color and youth and young adults with disabiliites. With over 16 years of experience in education law and administrative advocacy, I have represented hundreds of clients improving their access to education, protecting their constitutional and civil rights and enhancing their access to benefits. In 2022, I received the Game Changer Award from the Connecticut Law Tribune specifically for my work with the Center for Children's Advocacy defending the rights of Connecticut's Black expelled students and Connecticut's youth being held in adult prison. A skilled trainer and presenter, I have developed, produced and delivered trainings in education law to practitioners throughout Connecticut. By working collaboratively with state and community partners, I reguarly effectuate policy and legislative changes to improve Connecticut's justice and education systems.
