About Marisol Torres

As a Spanish-speaking Latina immigrant and first-generation US college graduate, I've faced and conquered many challenges; experienced disparities first hand and challenged the systems that create these disparities. Through my work in the public health and education sectors, I strive to create long-lasting positive impact in marginalized communities affected by inequities. I’m passionate about and have focused my work on human rights, social and racial justice, health access, educational achievement, building professionals with cultural humility, and using evidence-based approaches to create change. Communities I’ve work with include BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, low socioeconomic populations, immigrant communities, youth, college students, first-gen students and people who have been previously incarcerated. My BS in Health Science and my MPH in Community Health Sciences has provided me with versatile skills that have allowed me to gain over 10 years of combined work experience in K-12 education and higher education and also serving in coordinating health and wellness campus and community-wide programs and events and participating in 6 health research/evaluation projects. I believe in taking a community-based intersectional approach in creating health equity.
