About Marissa Crawford
Hi everyone & nice to meet you! My name is Marissa and I recently completed my Masters of Criminology and Social Justice at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) in October of 2022. My research interests were centralized around Indigenous governance, policing and the effects of socio-political policies on crime control trajectories in Canada. Throughout the course of my graduate degree, I was fortunate enough to work as a research assistant in accordance with the university for the Toronto Police Service (2021-present) and the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (2021). Additionally, my research team produced a technical report publication for the Toronto Police Service that aimed to influence future policy and evidence based practices as an alternative to incarceration for vulnerable populations in the city. I am currently employed as a research assistant with TMU on a body-worn camera (BWC) publication for the purpose of impacting future BWC training and policy for Toronto Police.
