About Marissa Helmle

I am a graduate of Washington College, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and American Studies as well as minors in History and Black Studies. I have also graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College with an Associates of Science in Geospatial Technology. I received honors at both institutions upon graduation. I am an outgoing and self motivated individual. When I take on a project I really give it my all. My interest in history focuses on colonial history of the United States. I also enjoy work with the public in a historic preservation environment. My current pursuits in Anthropology are Historical Archaeology. I have gone through field school training as well as how to use metal detecting to help in Archaeological excavation and mapping. I have worked extensively in a laboratory setting with various types of historical artifacts, including cataloging these items. My undergraduate thesis focused on an interpretation of a 17th/18th century Talbot county MD historic archaeological site. All of my research was centered around the history of the site as well as the glass materials found at the site.
