About Marissa Lev

With a Master of Education degree from DePaul University and a passion for personalized and meaningful learning, I am a 5th Grade Lead Teacher at Chicago Public Schools (CPS), where I design and develop curriculum materials that align with learning objectives and standards. I create targeted assessments that measure and provide feedback on student learning, and collaborate with colleagues to deliver professional development around social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives and pedagogical best practices. My core competencies include curriculum design, English as a Second Language (ESL), SEL, and STEM education. In my previous roles, I contributed to the integration of the Lucy Calkins writing curriculum, a research-based approach to teaching writing skills, and partnered with Art, Drama, and Library teachers to create and implement a thematic writing unit that engaged students in cross-curricular learning. Additionally, I utilized a variety of assessment strategies, such as Envision Math and IXL, to differentiate instruction for ESL students and measure student learning outcomes.
