About Marissa Smith

I have a Master of Public Administration degree from the Martin School of Public Policy at the University of Kentucky focused in Higher Education. I earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Management with a minor in Communications from the University of Kentucky. I served as a Graduate Assistant in the Resident Life department at the University of Kentucky and worked as a staff member at Parks and Recreation during my graduate school career. In addition to being a full-time student, I took pleasure in being involved in various organization throughout campus and the community. I have served as the undergraduate adviser to the Kentucky State University chapter for Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated. I have served as a leader for many organizations within the School of Business and Martin School of Public Policy, such as Gatton Ambassadors, Gatton Student Resource Advising Consultant, UK 101- Business Section Peer Instructor and mentoring programs. Some of the many programs and events I helped foster would be “Accounting Days,” “University of Kentucky Career Fair,” and "A Global Business Bridge: Linking Kentucky & India". As a former superior at Graeter’s Ice Cream, Kroger, and student tutor for several years at different departments on campus I have work experience in customer service, student development, and education. As a student assistant in student affairs I learned to understand student affairs and university protocol. I studied abroad in Australia and in Germany as a Fulbright Scholar during the summer of 2010, where I had countless life changing experiences. My experiences throughout my life and in college have influence my career goals. Varies internships, leadership roles, and involvement in academic and social programs have molded me as a person and leader.
