Background
About Marissa Sullivan
Hello, welcome to my profile. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Texas. Currently, I am the Advocacy Director at Noah Project, a non-profit that provides shelter, advocacy, and therapy to individuals and families that have been impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Having been a strong advocate working in the mental health field consistently for 10+ years, I find great passion and purpose in accompanying those that I serve in their journey to discover their ability of creating vibrant, resilient relationships guided by their secure sense of self. Clinically, I sharpen and employ techniques that consider the natural strengths of individuals, couples and families in relation to their own goal-setting and achievement. I recognize that therapy is a highly intimate and healing process; therefore my perspective lies within a brief, yet future-focused and goal-directed approach, which empowers clients to build upon their own means of problem resolution. I am trained in providing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as a therapeutic tool for trauma therapy. My therapeutic passion and purpose remains in working with couples that have experienced strain or grief affecting their relationship. My specialties include navigating various types of loss and/or trauma in assisting to unburden the family system. In my free time, I enjoy volunteering for causes I am passionate about and advocating with mental health coalitions and associations to address local and state growth areas related to supporting mental health initiatives. I have been fortunate enough to live and study in Montevideo, Uruguay where my passion for relationships and integration of cultural influences was heightened.
