About Maritt Nowak

I'm a second-year Master of International Affairs student at Columbia University's School of International & Public Affairs (SIPA) with a concentration in International Security Policy and specializing in Gender & Public Policy as well as Technology, Media and Communications, graduating in May 2024. Outside the classroom, I have served in student leadership positions as a Program Assistant for the International Security Policy concentration, a Peer Advisor, a facilitator for SIPA's Inclusive Policymaking workshop and a class assistant for Global Media: Policy Lab & Innovation. I am currently seeking a full-time position in the national security space where I can put my research & analysis, writing and public speaking skills to work for an organization shaping international security policy and aiding understanding of geopolitical crises. I hope to find my role in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where my commitment to client service, interdisciplinary collaboration and data-backed solutions can make a positive difference. After spending four years in the financial services sector, I am adept at working with both quantitative and qualitative data. I enjoyed taking on leadership as well as collaborating with a global team. I was fortunate to work at a firm that valued sustainability and I had the opportunity to take extensive training on ESG analysis and implementation. I also served as a board member in an employee resource group dedicated to LGBTQIA+ inclusion in the workplace. Additional professional experience includes time as an investigative research intern at Anti-Defamation League's Center on Extremism and a community services intern at a refugee resettlement agency.
