About Marjan Beikzadeh

The mind is an incredible thing; it can direct and influence our mental and physical behaviour. When we feel supported, we are more likely to reach our goals and deal with crises. My fascination with the human mind is what led me to get my BA in Psychology at Simon Fraser University, and my love for empowerment and education is what led me to complete a double minor: one in Counselling and Human Development, and the other in Educational Psychology; as well as, to obtain my Certified Leadership Coach designation. I have always been an advocate for mental health. I believe that open communication, active listening, social support, and positive feedback not only allow for healthier minds but also lead to better productivity, efficiency, and overall healthier lives. When working with multi-barriered individuals, it is vital to their success that we are aware of the difficulties they face and take a comprehensive approach to trauma-informed care when providing support. Furthermore, applying an intersectional and strengths-based approach with clients can empower them to take control of their own lives and accomplish the goals they set for themselves. This is the approach I take when working with clients. Outside of work, I enjoy volunteering. In the past, I have volunteered as a Research Assistant with SFU and a Community Outreach Volunteer with the CMHA. Currently, I am a Foster Volunteer with the BC SPCA looking after animals that are injured, abandoned, or underage. Helping people (and animals) gives me a sense of purpose and allows me to continue growing as a person. I love to learn and I love to grow, so I am always open to new opportunities that can provide me with those things!
