About Mark Amadeus Flowerdew

Mark Amadeus Flowerdew, who never needs to invent a stage name, is a Halifax-based songwriter, producer, film composer, multi-instrumentalist, and musical jack-of-all-trades. As a singer-songwriter, Mark aims to write timeless songs that explore unexpected facets of a life following Jesus. Amidst warm piano and joyful ukulele, Mark muses in verses that are charming, vulnerable, and always rhyming. Mark hopes to offer you meaningful rest from your troubles, a thoughtful challenge to your assumptions, and a sense of hope that your life is in good hands. Growing up in Dartmouth NS, Mark learned to play piano by ear from the age of 7. He gradually learned trombone, ukulele, and accordion, but his greatest passion is composing. Mark has written music for theatre, choir, and documentary soundtracks and occasionally works in audio production & reinforcement, having studied at Acadia and NSCC. Mark’s career as a gospel songwriter began in 2016 with the release of his solo album Lenten Carols, an eclectic mix of original songs inspired by the season of Lent. This was followed in 2021 by Let's Go, an ECMA-nominated album of colourful gospel tunes with a vintage aesthetic.
