About Mark Arellano

In 1998, after a couple post-collegiate years wandering around the continent, I got my start in the industry as a production assistant for NBC's 'Saved By The Bell', and 'In The House' with LL Cool J. During a filmmaking class at UCLA, I met the founders of the Slamdance Film Festival and weeks later I was flying with them to Cannes and Park City as their festival coordinator. From there I moved on to Miramax Films, where I was primarily tasked with reading screenplays submitted by the top talent agencies, providing coverage, and making recommendations, some of which went on to become Oscar-winning films. After a long, life-changing trip to India in 2001, I returned to my native Bay Area, where my partner and I combined our skills and passions to found multimedia production agency Conscious Creative in San Francisco. Over the course of the past 15+ years, I've been a cinematographer, director, writer, shooter/operator, editor, producer, creator, long distance runner, husband and father. I’ve had a front row seat as the industry has moved from film to digital, and have been intimately involved in many aspects, levels, and types of production. My at times award-winning work has been broadcast on TV, on the web, and has screened at prominent and obscure film festivals worldwide.
