About Mark Ashby

When I left school in 1991, I started an engineering apprenticeship, and trained as a tool maker. From this I progressed and moved into the drawing office. Here I was involved in the design and production of most of the products the company made. These were mainly for the automotive industry. I worked on Autocad for quite a few years, before leaving the company in 2005. I then moved to another engineering firm, where I was again working on Autocad, and involve in the design on the tooling for the industrial pipe bending machines the company made. In 2008 the company started to make people redundant. I chose this time to have a change in career. I chose nursing. So. with no experience in healthcare before I took a gamble and enrolled at Uclan. In 2012 I finished university and got my first job as a qualified Staff Nurse. This was at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals on a trauma Orthopaedic ward. I’m late 2013 I left here and moved to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals to work on the Neurosurgery wards. This was somewhere I’d always wanted work whilst I was training. In 2016, due to personal reasons, I moved to work on the Daycase Unit. Here I trained as a scrub nurse, where I scrub for opthalmics, plastics, paediatric General surgery, and orthopaedics. I am also a qualified anaesthetic nurse, with good experience in paediatric and adult anaesthesia. yearsyears
