About Mark Bentley

I'm a geoscientist and training course designer and tutor. I studied structural geology at University in Wales, spent 11 years with Shell in the UK, Oman and the Netherlands then left to work with folk at TRACS - a small independent consultancy. We run around 100 courses a year, some of which I'm happy to say I am involved in designing and running, so it's not just emails and proposals. I'm particularly proud of the Open Air series - taking cross-discipline classroom teaching across the breadth of E&P and running it against world class analogue outcrops in some stunning locations. In 2018 I took up a part-time post at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh where I build and help deliver some of the courses for the MSc programmes in ‘GeoEnergy Engineering’. I would still like to deliver a training course in Antarctica, as I’ve never been there. One day.
