About Mark Bonfiglio

After spending 9 years in clinical practice and education (Ohio Northern University) I joined Lexicomp, a focus of my position was to develop a publication model which would support real-time publishing. This was at the beginning of a large change in the pharmacology reference space. Over time, I led the development of an in-house team that wrote the drug information content as that industry changed from printed books to real time electronic publishing. Later, these activities were integrated as clinical decision support as healthcare informatics expanded. Lexicomp increased the depth of its offerings, and I led our efforts to develop our Drug Interactions, Pharmacogenomics, and Drug Allergy/Idiosyncratic Reactions content sets. In addition, I worked with multidisciplinary teams, together with product management, marketing, and internal software developers, as we enhanced our handheld and online delivery mechanisms. Lexicomp grew and was acquired by WoltersKluwer Health. Following the acquisition, I led the integration of teams from three campuses to create a unified process to research, validate, and publish content for our drug information reference and embedded content offerings. Later, I transitioned to a role leading efforts to globalize our content. This provided an opportunity to meet pharmacists and other health professionals from across the globe. In 2017, I had an opportunity to effectively return to my "roots": where I had started in clinical practice and Pharmacy education. I re-located to South Florida to become the Chair of the Pharmacy Practice Department at the Gregory School of Pharmacy (part of Palm Beach Atlantic University). After four years in the Academy, I returned to WoltersKluwer to participate in clinical oversight and working with a team dedicated to enhancing quality in data products and applications.
