Mark P. Braboy is a Chicago bred music and culture journalist, writer, photographer, and editor. His work specializes in Black culture and Black music and entertainment. An alum of Jackson State University, his writing and photography has been published in the Chicago Sun Times, XXL, Billboard, WBEZ, Red Bull, VIBE Magazine, BET, Shondaland, The Chicago Reporter, The Fader, Okayplayer, Pitchfork, MTV News, Entertainment Insider and more. He has held various freelance positions across the United States. A natural writer, Mark has went on to pursue and complete his bachelor's in English at Jackson State after cutting his teeth as a leading editor for The Blue and White Flash and interning for small business and newspapers like the Jackson Free Press. He found his way into the industry after interning for VIBE Magazine in 2015 in New York City and would continue to be a contributor for them today. In 2016, he would return to Chicago and began to build a name for himself in his hometown media circuit by becoming a member of NABJ-CC covering major events, interviews, and creating timely content for a wide range of national outlets. Since then, he has become a prolific writer as he would find his way into many leading local and national outlets and his work would garner the attention on social media from the likes of Mariah Carey, Missy Elliot, and many more. And as a photographer specializes in event and concert photography as he as shot press conferences and events held by the City of Chicago, protests and town halls, and major parties, concerts, and music festivals. Recently, he's been expanding his brand by creating biographies and hosting digital panel discussions. He was tapped to work with WBEZ and The Pulitzer Center on reporting the state of the museums of color in Chicago in the wake of COVID-19. Mark speaks on and moderates panels about media, hip-hop, and cannabis has worked in print for five years, and wants to expand into copywriting, editing, producing, and other areas in media. His content is to enlighten, entertain, and engage readers to the highest levels.
