About Mark Burgess

I am an accounting, corporate banking and financial services executive with 25 years' experience. I have been at the Westpac Group for 10 years and prior to that spent over 15 years with global big 4 accounting firm, Ernst & Young (EY). I currently lead the Westpac Group’s St. George Consumer Goods industry team for the business bank managing mid market and large corporate clients across the various sectors. This includes- Retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers of Consumer Goods - Food & Beverage - Certain Property and property/construction services customers- Service providers in the above sectors. Given my skill set, I also manage a number of the banks more complex and larger clients in other industries banking some of Australia’s largest privately owned businesses as well as ASX. Prior to this, I was a Director at EY where I specialised in Transaction Advisory Services, Corporate Restructuring, Insolvency, Debt Advisory, Transaction Due Diligence, Mergers and Acquisitions. Performance Improvement, Turnaround Solutions where I had extensive experience advising senior corporate clients, financiers and other key stakeholders as a Qualified Chartered Accountant, Turnaround Professional and Registered Liquidator with ASIC and the Federal Court. This has included providing expert banking, financial, advisory and restructuring solutions to corporates across a broad variety of industries, with significant experience across many sectors including property, building and construction, consumer goods, food & beverage, hospitality, agriculture, mining and mining services, professional services as well as transport & logistics. I am well placed to advise CEO's, boards, directors, management and financial institutions in banking and optimal financing solutions, debt structuring, due diligence, assessing transactions and mitigating risk, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring and streamlining, managing stakeholders, financial analysis and cash flow management, working capital solutions, turnaround strategies/business optimisation, insolvency, and how to deal with liquidity constraints. I am focused on generating innovative, commercially focused solutions to resolve complex problems rapidly and effectively, while balancing stakeholder interests. As part of the process, I am always customer focused and thrive on exceeding customer expectations.
