Background
About Mark Burns
Improvement. That is my main goal whether it is atmosphere or profit margin. Coming from a home with deep entrepreneurial roots, that is what it is all about. In order to be a successful entrepreneur, you have to bring an improvement to the current status-quo. My employers value my role in the company because I have shown just that. At both of my current jobs, while many can feel run down from a rush of people, I bring ways to handle the rush more efficiently which also lightens the mood. I have presented numerous ideas to management that have led to an improved workplace. For instance, at Jiffy Lube, many employers were upset about a new smoking policy that affected the majority of employees. I saw the overall mood of my coworkers plummet and knew fixing the policy was the main priority. After I presented the problem and possible change to management, a compromise was reached and a new policy was put in place a couple days later. The potential for improvement follows me wherever I may go.
