About Mark C. Barnes

I am a physical chemist by trade and have been a researcher in a range of areas since and have substantial knowledge of wet chemistry techniques as well as experience in many analysis techniques. I have capability in the following areas: • physical chemistry; • Bayer Process; • anti-fouling expertise; • crystal growth, kinetics and thermodynamics of chemical reactions; • wet chemistry processes including those under a range of pH, temperature and pressure conditions; • zeolites; • ultrasonics; • nanotechnology; • nanostructures; • thin film deposition by gas phase and sol gel processes, carbon nanotubes and nanowires of other materials; • Theory of Charged Nanoparticles • research project management. Teaching and other experience: • lectured chemical reaction engineering in English to Korean Masters and PhD. students in 2001, and currently involved in teaching at undergraduate level. • supervised 4 PhD. students and 3 MSc. students, some from non-English speaking backgrounds. • more than eight years’ experience as a professional editor. • attracted significant research funding (more than $AUD from the Australian Research Council and partners (1 ARC Fellowship and 3 ARC Linkage grants).
