About Mark Christensen

I'm an engineer at heart who likes data and likes learning about and building things. I'm passionate about data engineering, data integration, and data analytics. I have expertise with data engineering and integration using Pentaho Kettle (PDI), MongoDB, Oracle, and MySQL databases. I have expertise with Tableau as a developer and a site administrator. Although I have experience with a wide variety of programming languages (PHP, Java, C++, Python), I'm currently most excited about Python. My passions focus on the data side rather than on the visualization side of the analytics world (although I feel capable of creating visualizations). I'm a promoter of ad-hoc reporting. I want to make data available to people and then help them learn how to answer their questions. I enjoy training users to help them be more effective with their data. I've made numerous training videos to help data users and practitioners. Other interests include predictive analytics. neural networks, machine learning, and graph databases (with Neo4j). In my spare time, I like tinkering with electronics (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc), amateur radio (WB0VBG), and internet marketing. I also enjoy teaching.
