About Mark Cleaver

I have been working in education for almost twenty years. After graduating from the University of Warwick with a First Class Honours in Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics, I went on to earn my PGCE from Bath Spa University, specialising in Mathematics. Since then I have enjoyed an exciting career in education including twelve years as Head of Economics at a leading independent girls' school, over ten years of senior examining experience in Economics, consultancy for cutting-edge edtech firms and working in a variety of roles as a private tutor. I believe in the power of education to enrich and transform lives and I aim to inspire my students to unlock their amazing potential. My guiding principle is,'If their eyes are shining, you are doing it right'. I love Economics because it gives us the tools to illuminate our understanding of ourselves, our relationships and the world in which we live. I am a lifelong learner who loves discovering new ideas and nuggets of wisdom from a diverse range of interests such as quantum physics, Zen Buddhism, geopolitics and blockchain technologies. I am a loving family man who enjoys music, poetry, yoga and kindness among other things.
