About Mark Coughlan

I lead a small team of multiskilled digital journalists creating in-depth, innovative, original, digital and TV journalism. My role involves overseeing, editing, and planning the digital output from the Current Affairs department. Strands within the department include 'Prime Time','RTE Investigates' and 'Upfront with Katie Hannon.' I have implemented digital strategies and devised departmental change and launched new digital strands and forms of output, all while introducing various forms of innovation. Prior to taking responsibility for digital output, I worked for a decade as a broadcast journalist, mainly with Prime Time RTE's flagship current affairs TV programme. It is Ireland's most-watched current affairs show, typically attracting approximately 25% audience share. I am highly technically proficient. I have excellent knowledge of video editing software (Avid Media Composer/Premiere), graphic design applications (After Effects and Photoshop mainly), as well as in-depth understanding of a multitude of tools for creating digital interactive features, doing data analysis and conducting OSINT research.
