Background
About Mark Crawford
The Area Manager is essentially a departmental manager who is responsible for and tasked with delivering all key metrics for a particular team. There is an intense focus on all elements of people management at the ground level of the business and direct impact on all deliverables associated with the end customer. From the health and safety of your workforce, quality of service to the customer, productivity/cost impact to the business, to the administration of employment policy and all the challenges that are entailed; the Area Manager is viewed as one of the most challenging roles in the business. Through maintaining high standards of workplace organisation and process management the Area Manager drives the continuous improvement agenda for the business. Having joined Amazon in late Spring of 2010, I took on the challenge of running two existing FC’s and planning for the opening of the largest FC in the UK network in Dunfermline. Whilst this meant a personal steep learning curve, I embraced the pace of the organisation and quickly identified key development areas for L&D including standardisation of induction, team lead behavioural management programmes, cross-site support and management induction initiatives. I have proactively built a network of contacts across the European and Global Amazon network which has resulted in the identification of existing learning materials. Specialties: My main areas of expertise lie in the creation, management and delivery of bespoke training and development programmes, cultural and organisational change management, motivational learning & skills delivery and external organisational analysis.
