Assistant lecturer, Individualized Studies (Western Program), Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Author three books: 1."Social Justice in the 21st Century," textbook the preliminary edition of which published in January 2024 (Cognella Academic Publishing, San Diego, CA.) First edition will publish in August 2025. Based on syllabus I developed and teach each semester for SJS-SOC 165: Social Justice Perspectives. 2."Across the Color Line: Reporting 25 Years in Black Cincinnati,"(2019) by University of Cincinnati Press. In 2011, Vanderbilt University Press published "A Promise in Haiti: A Reporter's Notes on Families and Daily Lives," winner nationally of a Foreword Reviews' social sciences book of the year. Thirty-four year newspaper reporter, 25 years at Cincinnati Enquirer (1993-2014),(2016-2019). Three-time Best Reporter in Ohio for work produced in 2012, 2013 and 2018, as selected by the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), and member of the Enquirer team that received the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for local reporting for "Seven Days of Heroin." In 2013 won competitive Ford Foundation Grant for International Social Justice Reporting and produced detailed investigatory stories and accompanying video on childhood slavery in Haiti (restaveks) and the living and working conditions of Haitian migrant cane cutters in the San Pedro de Macoris province — timed to the release of a US Labor Department report corroborating the abuses of sugar workers throughout the Dominican Republic. Honored for human rights activism by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), Ohio Latino Affairs Commission, Su Casa Hispanic Center of Cincinnati, Bridges for a Just Community (formerly the National Conference of Christians and Jews), and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati (Salesian Guild). Bishop Medal for Meritorious Public Service in 2015 from Miami University Alumni Association. As a former newspaper NFL beat reporter while at the Enquirer, was second vice president of the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) and Associated Press voter for official league player and coaching awards. Reporting in 2002 and 2003 on the lack of African American coaches, coordinators and team player personnel executives was used in formation of the league’s hiring policy known as the Rooney Rule.
