Background
About Mark Dangelo
As information overload grows and the “great rearrangement of 2021” gets underway the norm for connections is to examine profiles for hard skills. With machine learning and automated resume reviewers, the rationale, and implications of “who” the person is, “why” did they excel, “what” are their soft skills, “how” did they grow over their career, and “where” was the landscape of learning is lost—all in a quest to secure the ultimate employee as fast as possible. Therefore, being an innovator, thought leader, and an entrepreneur, I believe as 2021 permanently transforms digital work and workers, anyone who takes the few minutes to read my “about” should understand who I am as much as what I am. You can read the “what” I am if you download my visual career resume spanning two pages in the artifacts section of my profile below. However, how I got to be where I am, what I do, how I do it, and where I am going is as important as my hard skills of why I can assist you. Stating an obvious post-pandemic, we all need to take the time to understand people—not just their balance sheet values. And yes, I have worked for many big names-E&Y, A.T. Kearney, Stanford Research Institute (SRI), CSC, and KeyCorp along with clients that included Chase, Citi, Kaiser, and dozens of other brand names and governments. around the globe. I am an entrepreneur, an innovator, and teacher, and of all things a farmer—still today. I graduated as a type “A” person who before I became a senior manager at Ernst & Young watched my son of three months pass as I struggled to revive him. It was, as you might expect, a turning point that pushed me to become more than a “Big-5” partner. I expanded my views, sought out different points of outlook, and determined that to understand those around me, my customers, and even my family I needed to go global. I spent the next 20 years working around the world, immersed in cultures and nationalities that were highly formative. I came to clearly understand the Dunning-Kruger effects and sought to challenge my beliefs and mores. This is what drives my entrepreneurial and innovation spirit—it is the people and what is possible regardless of boarders or nationalities. Therefore, when you contact me, you gain these uncommon lessons learned, the belief that nothing is impossible, and that with the right people, anything can be overcome or remediated—in addition to those hard skills and demands that prescriptive employers are seeking. So yes, this is not a “typical” LinkedIn “About” section, but my career continues to be anything but typical…
