About Me — I’m a hands-on engineering leader with 15+ years of experience in software development, DevOps, and backend and frontend architecture. I’ve led distributed teams, scaled cloud-native and on-premise systems, and delivered functional and secure user experiences in fast-moving, highly regulated environments, with an emphasis on shipping business value. My focus is on reducing complexity, accelerating delivery, and fostering strong engineering culture through mentorship, trust building, and developing processes that work. I lead with empathy, and always seek to foster an environment where safety creates productivity through healthy debate and free exchange of ideas. I also launched markduncan.me, a thought leadership blog where technologists can share insights on engineering culture, architecture, and delivery.
