About Mark Durham

I am currently appointed by the University of Utah, School of Dentistry as an Endowed Presidential Chair, and helping at the CR Foundation (Provo, UT), to further dental progress and dental education throughout the globe. One of my favorite undertakings right now is the combined efforts of the U of U and CR to fuse "The Dental Test Clinic." This is a research clinic made up of a wide variety of clinicians who test products to make the dental industry better. Check out our recent scientific efforts at Over the last 12 years, many WONDERFUL PEOPLE helped nudge the dental world with me. A decade ago, I took a job at a VA, with Dr. Lea Erickson and Dr. Mike Slater, and began working collaboratively to build: 1) A nationally recognized educational courses in dentures, overdentures, and full-mouth fixed rehabs (thanks to Andy R. Larson) using ed-tech. 2) A denture fabrication system reducing the 2-6 month denture process to 24 hours. 3) With another team, we developed a novel, award-winning oral prosthetic marketed throughout the USA (thanks to Evolution & Revolution Dental Labs). 4) I have worked with the University of Utah's TVC and the Lightrium team (Dr. Brain, OS; Dr. Bauman, endo; Dr. Larson, Dental, Dr. Skene, Perio; Mr. Olivier, Lab) to bring dental products to market. 5) I have lectured on my own ideas/research throughout the US, and through an Integrated Practice Unit with the Lightrium team. 6) I worked with smart people to build an education platform for dentists (Thanks to Mark Hymas, John Chymboryk). 7) With another great team at the U (Dr. Erickson, Dr. Bekker, Dr. Colombo, Dr. de Souza, Dr. Glen Hansen, Dr. Lynn Powell & many others), we helped found the core curriculum at the school of Dentistry. 8) I also started the University of Utah School of Dentistry's continuing education program in 2015 with key people (Thanks to Whitney Haydock, Julie Oyler, Jim Winkler, & Alex Steele). 9) We pioneered novel implantable devices (thanks to Florian Scholzbacher and Tomasz Petelenz), developed machine learning utilities (Ben Engle, Matthew Gong, & TJ Ferrell). Finally #10, I am most proud of the cutting edge learning/noogenesis systems we built that accelerate motor memory in restorative dentistry, periodontics, implant dentistry, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and endodontics (thanks to Tim Bitner, Aaron Fischer, Sara Creem-Regehr, Jeanine Stefanucci, the U of U VRplus crew, Katherine Soehner, Tj Ferrell, Dr. Wendy Hobson-Roher, Dr. Rory Hume, & my dear friends Nate Adams, Mike Gladwell, TP Singh & Ben Engle).
