Background
About Mark E. Hollingshead
I am currently preparing myself obtain my CPA license and am looking to find employment under a licensed CPA that would be able to approve my required work hours. I started with a computer engineering major, with aspirations of practicing patent law. Due to family health issues, I switched to accounting to obtain a more flexible career options. As a result of that early coursework, I have a strong understanding of computers which has been a great help in performing IT audits. I also have enough extra college credits to get my CPA license. I have talent for creative thinking, which always helps me find solutions to problems or streamline procedures, helping myself to be more efficient at my work. I have a compulsion to learn continually, which also helps my work output, as I understand more fully the practices and standards of my career. Immediately upon college graduation, I worked at a local CPA firm and gained strong internal and external audit experience. I was heavily involved in the rewrite of several clients internal controls to comply with updated state regulations. I was given ownership of several clients' accounts, performing all activities from audit to tax preparation, including building the financial reports. My experience with the IRS, has helped my skills in individual income tax. I was hired to specialize in Injured Spouse Claim processing in the Accounts Management department, but have since been fully trained. I have been successful enough in my areas of responsibilities to be asked to help tutor others through on-the-job instruction. I have developed handouts and spreadsheets, as job aids that have been adopted by various teams. I have been asked to fill in as lead for my team and others. I have been noticed for my ability to explain complex and technical issues in an easily understandable way to team members and taxpayers. I transferred within the IRS to the same position, but working in business tax accounts.
