About Mark Esper

Award-winning photographer, photo journalist and film editor. Currently based in Berlin, Germany I work as a contributor to New York based photo agency Polaris Images whilst also editing, colour grading and script consulting on independent features and documentaries. In short, I look to help clients tell their story the best way possible - even if things changed on set. This is where my background as a photojournalist in knowing how to convey meaning and capture a moment in a short space of time. I love telling stories. I love developing characters because audiences are getting smarter, more discerning and so every project has to respect that. To date, I have been nominated in the annual ANI 'Coup de Coeur' at the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 competition at the VISA Pour L' Image photojournalism festival, shortlisted for the 2010 GUP magazine / Viewbook PhotoStory contest for photojournalism, exhibited at the 2012 Portrait Salon, a finalist in the 2013 and 2014 Renaissance Photography Prize, 2013 Freshfields Photography Prize, 2014 New York Photo Festival RESOLUTION prize and a special award winner at the 2013 Art of Photography Competition in San Diego, CA. My first photobook 'CONFLICTED: London's Faces of Protest' was published in 2011 via iTunes as a digitial download for the iPad, iPhone, iPod and other digital ePub readers.
