I love the daily challenges that healthcare brings – from handling market and scientific changes, to monitoring political stances, healthcare is consistently evolving and changing. It is an industry that requires diligence, patience, and courage to be successful, and I continuously strive to build upon it by combining my operations knowledge with my legal background as an attorney. Knowing the ins and outs of the hospital setting, influencing others, creating meaningful change, and challenging the status quo are facets of my toolkit that have allowed me to truly excel as a healthcare leader. I am passionate about taking difficult legal concepts (contracts, consent, entity formation, regulations) and translating them into easily understandable information that can provide guidance for healthcare operational leaders, make effective decisions in the workplace, and forge change for hospitals and major health systems. Throughout my career path at Kaiser Permanente, I have consistently advanced into operational roles with greater responsibility. I have leveraged my leadership, operations, and legal skills by creating new departments from the ground-up, creating analytical tools that establish hospital utilization performance metrics, and restructuring budgets to create new positions without adding cost to the organization. Currently, I serve as the first non-clinician to lead the anesthesia department for Kaiser Permanente. I thrive on interpreting difficult information, removing barriers for staff, investing in relationships with my team members to be an accountable leader, and providing timely advice and counsel for the benefit of my team and organization. I am skilled at seeing the “big picture” as well as understanding the minutia details to balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day issues. I share a vision that inspires others and builds confidence and trust in serving as a mentor and teacher to young careerists.
