About Mark Furr

Mark Furr manages the Marketing Communications team with Duke Energy in Charlotte, North Carolina. In his current role he is directly responsible for the strategy and execution of marketing campaigns for business customers. In his role he has developed a marketing strategy for creation and launch of Envision Charlotte and Smart Energy Now®, programs dedicated to helping reduce energy consumption in Charlotte’s Uptown office buildings. The goal: reduce energy usage in Uptown by 20% overall in five years. 5% of that overall reduction is driven directly by Smart Energy Now®. Mark has more than 30 years of experience in the field of advertising and marketing. He was named manager of the Graphic Design and Brand Compliance group within Duke Energy following the merger of Duke Energy and Cinergy in April 2006. He was directly responsible for the management and guidance of the design team and the production of all multimedia collateral. He also supported corporate branding initiatives by ensuring compliance with utility identity guidelines, image usage licenses, co-branding policies, and proper usage of trademarks/copyrights. Mark is experienced in all facets of marketing communications project management from inception through completion and is responsible for all cost estimates, resource assignments, vendor selection, execution and supervision of work, quality control and overall customer satisfaction. Leading up to the 2006 merger, Mark served as Senior Art Director at Duke Energy since November Prior to joining Duke Energy, he served in various roles at several advertising agencies in the Southeast where he designed marketing campaigns for companies such as Wachovia, Outer Banks Apparel, Huber Engineered Woods and Bob Timberlake Home.
