About Mark Grimes

Mark Grimes was first elected City Councillor for Ward 6 on November 10, 2003. Mark is proudly rooted in the Etobicoke-Lakeshore community. His commitment to family and community is a product of a life nurtured in the heart of the Lakeshore. Mark and his three brothers were raised here and now he and his wife Anne, a registered nurse, are raising five children of their own. Mark understands the demands of family and the need for first-rate community services, organizations, and recreational facilities for families. Before entering politics, Mark was the President and Owner of a business in south Etobicoke where he and his brothers operate a thriving logistics business. From this experience, he became keenly aware of the pressing economic issues for local businesses. Prior to starting his own business, Mark worked as a Professional Trader and Market Maker for a major financial firm for 13 years at the Toronto Stock Exchange. Mark is proud to have helped revitalize the ward by building Mimico Square, Amos Waites Park, the Mimico Waterfront Park, the Eighth Street Skatepark, and revitalizing Marie Curtis Park. As a life-long resident, activist, and businessperson in south Etobicoke, Mark has first-hand knowledge of the issues the community is facing. He understands the Lakeshore and will continue working as your City Councillor to protect the community’s best interests as they are his own.
