About Mark Grinstead

After graduating from the University of Kansas in 2012 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and minor in German Language I pursued a position in the renewable energy field. There I gained diverse engineering experience including equipment design, bid conditioning, the design of thermal processes, start-up activities for simple cycle and combined cycle plants, plant layout and preliminary P & ID creation. I went on to specialize in piping engineering including energy piping, process piping in domestic oil refineries, LNG compressor trains, and more recently petrochemical systems. This diverse exposure has afforded me the opportunity to develop skills in communication, subcontractor integration, modularization, problem solving, troubleshooting, software, scheduling, interdisciplinary collaboration, international work-share, and on-site engineering support of construction activities. I am currently an asset Engineer in the Crude units at Flint Hills Resources Pine Bend refinery. Flint Hills Resources is an independent company and wholly owned subsidiary of Koch Industries, Inc, one of the largest private companies in America. According to Forbes magazine, the estimated annual revenues of Koch Industries, Inc. are as high as $100 billion. The company traditionally reinvests 90 percent of earnings back into its businesses ranging from transportation fuels, fertilizers, process and pollution control equipment and technologies, minerals, energy, ranching and more.
