About Mark Jackson

Highly skilled with solid design, fabrication, installation & technical expertise in both high end furniture & high value art pieces acquired professionally over 18 years. • Respected by globally established artists & designers for the quality of workmanship & meticulous attention to detail with creativity in both design & developing solutions. I began my career in England studying a City & Guilds course in furniture making & restoration. Impressing my tutor with my abilities he offered me a full time position at his antique furniture restoration company. Wanting to develop my skills & knowledge. I moved to New Zealand & worked for the designer David Trubridge producing his unique designs in furniture, lighting & sculpture. Here learning the technique of steam bending timber. After New Zealand came Australia working for Chapman & Bailey. Here I worked directly with leading artists, designers & clients on all stages of the projects. Using my CAD skills & knowledge I developed the design & fabrication process. This resulted in the ability to greatly refine the designs of future furniture & art pieces and also created the ability to foresee & engineer solutions. In turn allowing the company to take on more complex and challenging projects. This is demonstrated by the art piece “VOX Beyond Tasmania”. This was a highly complex project using compounding curves, this was engineered on CAD and made within three weeks. This journey took us from Australia to Europe through much of East Asia. One of the reasons for this travel was to research ideas for future designs. I formed the company Mark Jackson Studios in early 2016, of which I am the owner & operator.
