About Mark Kerber

The second-best thing about being a lawyer is learning how things work: nuclear power plants, optical fiber networks, geolocation, or mobile transaction verification. The best thing? Using that knowledge to win a case or close a deal. I love the challenge of taking on complicated subjects and strongly believe that good lawyers understand the business and technical workings of each deal, product, or dispute. Recently, I’ve handled issues for high capacity ethernet data transport, a cybersecurity service that authenticates wireless transactions, and FirstNet®, America’s public safety network. Earlier in my career, I represented telecommunications, gas, and electric power companies on high-profile antitrust and regulatory matters, such as construction and engineering issues associated with nuclear power stations. My job has taken me into telecom switching centers and the control rooms of nuclear generating stations. During strike training, I’ve even climbed telephone poles and spliced optical fiber. And my clients and witnesses have included engineers, programmers, economists, and former first responders. Over the past few years, I’ve spent most of my time negotiating, drafting, and closing contracts involving a portfolio of products that generate more than $2 billion in annual revenue. I’ve provided legal and regulatory advice, helped to launch new products, prepared contract templates, negotiated custom contracts, and collaborated with intellectual property, privacy, and information security experts. I’ve also worked on non-disclosure, supply chain, license, marketing, and sponsorship agreements. I develop strong working relationships with both colleagues and clients.
