Background
About Mark Kulinski
From the beginning of my career, I have been involved in accomplishing major tasks for the companies for which I have worked. At Hamilton Standard, working with the IT and System Controls Manufacturing Departments, I developed a computer simulation to establish the production rates and evaluate the acceptance probability of a new jet fuel control. The overall truthfulness of the simulation proved to be 98%, reducing a week of analysis to 8 hours. At Allied Signal I was the operation’s local team coordinator for the reduction of CFCs. The Cheshire facility was the second largest emitter of Freon in Connecticut during 1989. Working with other corporate divisions, internal engineers and safety the Cheshire team was able to reduce the emissions from lbs. annually to zero in one year. I began working for US Repeating Arms Company, makers of Winchester Rifles. I had many positions there, making an impact in each role. Manufacturing Services Manager involved controlling the process, Tool Crib, Tool Design and Tool Room. During my long tenure with USRAC it had seemed that I had worked in every department except Human Resources. Working with the Marketing and Sales, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Supervisors, Finance and IT Departments, I was able to modernize and bring under control the runaway costs in the tool crib by retiring many obsolete tools and roll marks, the value of the tool crib’s inventory was when the project started was $3.5 million was reduced to less than $1.0 million. Collaborating with suppliers I was able to establish a tool sharpening program that allowed chamber reamers to be sharpened up to 7 times before scrapping, saving the company annually. My time as the Material Manager I negotiated long term contracts for standard parts that crossed product lines, establishing a parts sourcing procedure where Quality would source inspect parts, certify the inventory to allow for dock to stock delivery. RAF/MW Components has been a challenge. This is a company that went from being a family owned and operated to a corporate investment firm operation, part of a 22 division corporation. I help to bring the corporate computer system into the company, replacing a homegrown system that had been in place for years. I am the first degreed engineer ire to work at RAF and had to overcome the barriers of the “Old Boys” and the new people stigma. Established systems that maintained the record retention for those situations when needed and opened new types of material for use in the product offerings.
