About Mark Lafever

I'm an intelligence professional with 24 years' total Intelligence Community experience across multiple disciplines, including Human Intelligence (HUMINT) operations; counter-terrorism analysis; link and network analysis; maritime intelligence analysis; and mentoring and team leadership. Postgraduate-level academic work and extensive professional training have facilitated my contributions to mission success on behalf of both United States government and private-sector employers. With all the written and verbal communication inherent in IC work, I'm fortunate to have had previous experience as a public relations copywriter for The George Washington University in Washington, D.C, and as an award-winning advertising copywriter for multiple ad agencies in Raleigh, North Carolina. In my spare time, I'm a freelance writer and illustrator. Over the past few years, I've drafted several screenplays; one, a prospective television pilot, qualified in the semifinals round of the 2013 Creative World Awards screenwriting contest, while several others reached the contest's quarterfinals round. Recently I reached the quarterfinals round of the Stage 32 "Happy Writers" TV screenplay contest with "Piecework Heroes".
