About Mark Lawand

I was born in Lebanon and spent my early childhood living around the Middle East and Europe before settling in Canada when I came for university. That ignited my love for travel and exposed me to the diversity and infinite possibilities of life. I was always good at science in school so I just continued with it in university. After finishing my BSc in Anatomy, I decided to take a couple of years to focus on my passion for horses. I wanted to be the first to represent Lebanon at the Olympics in equestrian sport. While I didn't achieve that goal, it still remains one of the fondest time of my life. Life then led me to Dubai where I worked as part of the sales team on the opening of a luxury resort hotel. It was there that I developed an interest in tourism and management, so back to Canada I went to further my education with an MBA. I elected to take advantage of the exchange program in The Philippines to continue my international exposure. During my MBA, I was recruited by Procter & Gamble for their brand management internship program and assigned to one of their flagship hair care products. I wasn't done with travelling yet, so when an opportunity to work as a flight attendant for Air Canada came up, I jumped on it. I was expecting it to be a temporary experience, but it turned out to be the perfect fit. After a year of flying, I became an onboard leader (currently known as Service Director). Along the way, Air Canada has allowed me to enjoy many special assignments over the years including training, public relations, and support assignments. I'm already looking at opportunities after I retire that complement my skillset including working in the world of real estate. I'm currently working on getting my realtor license in BC.
