About Mark Lishman

I’m the UK and European Head of Facilities for Safestore, Safestore is the UK’s largest self-storage group with 201 stores. They include 130 wholly owned stores in the UK, and 29 wholly owned stores in the Paris region, 15 in the Netherlands, 6 in Belgium, 14 in Spain and a JV in Germany showcasing 7 stores Safestore was founded in the UK in 1998. It acquired the French business “Une Pièce en Plus” in 2004 which was founded in 1998. In this role I'm instrumental in the successful management of entire estate, overseeing a very committed team helping to manage our UK and European estate and keeping essential activities on track, whilst managing a multi-million pound Opex and Capex Budget Before joining Safestore I worked for World Duty Free which has recently been acquired by Dufry. In this role I was a Construction and Facilities Manager managing a diverse portfolio of stores and creating exciting new spaces in which to trade. Within this role I worked with some excellent colleagues and made real changes to the Industry and adopted new working practices which have now been accepted as Industry standard. I’m truly passionate about my work and always eager to connect with other like minded individuals or companies. While I enjoy all aspects of my job, I think my favorite stage of a project is working with the client or business unit leader to understand his or her business objectives. As we go through that collaborative process, the ideas start to flow and that’s always the fun part. I have competed a Masters in Construction Project Management at Oxford University and a BA from the University of Northampton, this along with a strong Electrical Installation background has been integral to my success. I have been awarded three CIOB awards for my work.
