About Mark Mabus

Dr. Mark Mabus, MD, RPh, is the Chief Medical Informatics Officer and Senior Vice President of EHR Clinical and Revenue Cycle at Parkview Health. Board certified in family medicine and clinical informatics, he has been practicing since 2009. Dr. Mabus holds a Bachelor's of Pharmacy and graduated from the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo. He completed his residency with Mercy Health Partners in Toledo, OH, where he began his journey into clinical informatics. After several years in private practice, Dr. Mabus joined Parkview Physicians Group and played a key role in deploying Parkview’s Epic EHR system. With multiple Epic Physician Builder certifications, he now leads Parkview Health’s Provider Builder Program. In his roles at Parkview, he optimizes clinical workflows and provider education using technology, analytics, and innovative educational techniques. He also directs analyst teams and contributes to system initiatives through Epic EHR integration. Dr. Mabus’s expertise bridges the gap between medical providers and information systems teams, ensuring the integration of technology solutions that support patient care. He is passionate about provider engagement, clinical decision support, and reducing note bloat, having given numerous presentations at Epic user group meetings, webinars, and for HIMSS. An active contributor to the Epic UserWeb forum, he offers insights and seeks input from other health systems. In 2019, he helped launch an immunization reminder system within Parkview's Epic system, resulting in over immunizations and gaining national recognition. Dr. Mabus's contributions to health technology were acknowledged in 2023 when he was named one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s “CMIOs to Know.” He currently serves on Epic Systems' Physician Advisory Council Board and has been nominated multiple times for Epic’s Physician Advisory Council PACademy award, which he recently won. Dr. Mabus is a member of HIMSS, the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA), American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), and the Association of Medical Directors of Information Systems (AMDIS).
