About Mark Mau

Dr Mark Mau is a professional historian, specializing in business and technology history. He is an expert in the history of the oil and gas industry and oilfield technology. Mark recently published with co-author Henry Edmundson: “Groundbreakers: The story of oilfield technology and the people who made it happen”. This is the first ever comprehensive history of the development of upstream technology. The illustrated book runs more than 450 pages and is the result of interviews with more than 120 industry experts and four year’s research and writing. He has previously worked as a historian for Deutsche Bank in London and the Post & Tele Museum in Copenhagen, Denmark. Mark has deep knowledge of historical research, interviewing, and writing. He also has expertise in exhibition development and archives management. Mark holds a PhD in business history from the Copenhagen Business School. He graduated from the University of Copenhagen, with a history degree, and from the University of Kiel, Germany, with a bachelor degree in history.
