About Mark McManus

I've been in the working world since 1980, when only the big businesses used computers, and that's where I got my taste for technology. For every company I've worked for, I've basically started at the bottom, getting my foot in the door. Then once I'm in there, I can show them what a great team we make. Just like everyone else, I've worked in construction, obviously not successfully. I've been a weekend radio DJ, loved and adored by dozens of fans. But as I finished college, I started to take my career more seriously and got hired by a local airline as a telephone customer service rep for their most frequent customers. As that department grew, so did my interest and work in technology until I was able to direct a project that converted our 250-seat call center into a multi-million dollar state-of-the-art, digital, paperless, ergonomic, automated call center.that they later out-sourced to the Philippines (after I left the company). I helped a friend with his business in the CNC tooling industry for a few years. I could scan images into the CAD system, I could program the CNC machine to cut something, and I could operate the CNC machine that did the cutting. It was big. Sometimes it would run all night, create a big mess of shavings, and then we'd clean it up in the morning. I was also good at cleaning the shop. Then I went to work for a local cable company, first in the warehouse, then with the Audit group. We drove little pickups with ladders all over the Piedmont Triad and checked every address for illegal cable. First, we used printouts, but when we upgraded to handhelds, I became the technical contact for our region. After about a dozen years, another cable company bought mine and they didn't need our Audit team anymore. Now I'm returning to my roots of customer service.
