Background

About Mark McPhillips

Proud to be from the West of Ireland. My loves, after Friends and Family, are Sports, Travel and new Experiences. I am a graduate of the Physics and Instrumentation Bachelors Degree at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) formerly known as GMIT. During my education I developed skills in Instrumentation, Imaging, 3D Printing, Electronics, Control Systems, and Mathematics. I also have technical abilities in problem solving and data analysis. Currently, I am employed with Lotus Works as a Calibration Technician in their client's Biomedical site in Shannon, Co. Clare. I have been gaining experience and insigts here since August 2023. I find Metrology interesting and getting to understand the different component that measure aspects such as Temperature, Flow, Pressure, pH, Conductivity/Resistivity etc. has been very eye opening to the technical Industry I have been building my career in. Before this I specialised as an Instrumentation and Control Technician at Lotus Works Client's Semi Conductor site in Leixlip, Kildare. I enjoyed my work as an I&C Tech, figuring out how physical apparatus such as Instruments and PLC's can be programmed to create Control Systems (example humskids in HVAC) that create and control the environment optimal for semi conductor production. This is done through systems monitor temperature, humidity, fluid flow, pH etc. During my studies at ATU I developed 3 different technical projects. A Turbidity sensor, using fundamental understanding of electronics. A Self-Counting Cash Register, calibrated from the specific weight of each coin. Finally, a wind tunnel, developed with my placement company P&O Maritime, used as a means to test and profile the accuracy of their Ultrasonic Anemometers. I am always looking for new opportunities to learn and better myself so please feel free to reach out if you think you can help me achieve that! Thank you for taking the time to read my personal summary.
