Background
About Mark Morton
Mark Morton started his career in 1997 as an assistant editor at The Partners’ Film Company. He quickly demonstrated his talent for music-driven work and is now regarded as one of Canada’s premier music video editors. Mark has worked with notable Canadian and international artists like Iron Maiden, Nickelback, Sloan, Seal, and Mary J. Blige. Mark has also collaborated with international rock legends, Rush for over twenty years. This creative relationship has resulted in five feature length concert films and several of the weird and hilarious short films Rush has produced over the years-many of which are featured in those concert films. Mark’s exceptional display of editorial talent in the music world soon became recognized by Canadian advertising agencies. In Mark co-founded School Editing, one of Canada’s premier post-production companies for advertising agencies with an impressive roster of international clients and projects from around the world. For the past twenty years, Mark has cut award-winning and iconic films for Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Pfizer and Tim Hortons. “Wheels” for Canadian Tire is a 60 second film that garnered over 250 million unpaid views with its story of Canadian kindness and inclusivity. Mark’s comedy work shines on the hilarious “Sumo Car Wash” for Subaru and in his work with Bud Light for spots that aired during the 2005, 2010 and 2011 US Superbowl broadcasts. In 2007, Mark worked with long-time collaborator, director Noble Jones (The Tomorrow Man), to edit the feature-length music documentary 10 Days Out: Blues from the Backroads. The road trip story covers the ten-day odyssey guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd undertook in the American south in 2004. The mission: interview, jam, and record with a group of legendary, blues musicians including Hubert Sumlin and BB King. The film went on to garner a 2008 Grammy nomination for Best Long Form Music Film.
