As of April 2024 I retired as the senior Extra-Contractual Claim Litigation and Claim Resource Team Manager with a team of Litigation Analysts as direct reports. This position primarily surrounds extra-contractual (EC) and punitive damage litigation nationwide but we also serve as resource to the Enterprise for other P&C Claims Analysis related specialty projects and initiatives. My team's primary responsibilities were to serve and assist in the business client role for Property and Casualty EC litigation, enterprise and country-wide. These lawsuits exclusively stemmed from underlying P&C claims that result in litigated demands for extra-contractual damages and/or equitable relief. The role focuses upon leading and coaching my Analysts in investigation, analysis and recommendations in concert with corporate and retained counsel of record for claims related matters in litigation. We work in liaison with internal and external business customers and vendors to coordinate and implement a comprehensive, effective and ethical litigation management resolution plan consistent with business and enterprise needs and goals. Other litigation and P&C Claims Projects are also sent to our group when seasoned, experienced and diverse people and teams are needed to engage and resolve issues. By necessity, this involves involvement at all phases of litigation from initial filing through trial and appeal, if and as necessary. This involvement spans from very individual actions to class, mass and consolidated actions across many states and jurisdictions. Personally, I brought deep institutional knowledge and experience includes almost three decades of high volume management in almost every imaginable variant of property and casualty insurance claims, specializing in high exposure, high dollar claims, particularly in complex coverage scenarios in a first and third party (and mixed) setting. I have extensive experience in catastrophe claims management, complex casualty claims, third party litigation as well as Special Investigation related matters. This broad background served to inform my analysis of business processes and proper claims handling as well as cogent recommendations of exposure for settlement, trial and appeal of multi-faceted matters as appropriate.
