About Mark Naysmith

Very proud to have been awarded an honorary doctorate, Doctor of Engineering, by Edinburgh Napier University in 2018 and European CEO of the Year in 2014 by the Association for Consultancy and Engineering. Mark is a Statutory Director of several WSP legal entities and a member of the Global Executive and Leadership Teams. Based in London, he is the CEO for WSP’s UK, Central Europe, Middle East and South African region. The business under Mark's leadership consists of professional services relating to; Planning, Earth & Environment, Property & Buildings, Transport & Infrastructure, Water and Energy. The multi-disciplinary business provides a full range of consultancy services to the Built and Natural Environment, across a diverse client base in both private and public sector markets. He is currently accountable for circa staff across the business (25% of WSP's Global business), with an annual revenue of circa $2.0bn (Canadian). His responsibilities include setting and implementing strategic direction, encouraging technical innovation, operational direction / efficiency and leadership to ensure that the best outcomes are achieved for shareholders, clients and staff. Mark has 35 years of experience as a consultant engineer working in the Built and Natural Environment. He has a wealth of technical and business management experience in senior board positions, having successfully established business units from scratch in a number of locations and has overseen the successful integration of several world class businesses following WSP acquisitions in recent years. He has a broad range of technical experience ranging from concept (pre-planning) through to detailed design, at design / project director and expert witness level on multi-disciplinary projects. Mark is an honorary Doctor of Engineering (Dr.Eng), a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (FICE), a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (FCIHT) and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). Mark is a member of the FIDIC Global Leadership Forum Advisory Board, the ACE Large Consultancy Advisory Council, the BusinessLDN Advisory Board and the Edinburgh Napier University Development Board.
