About Mark Nusbaum

I am a results-driven Principal-Level Technical Architect with a proven track record of resolving large-scale, complex building coordination and constructability challenges, driving enhanced project delivery. Skilled in leading cross-functional teams of architects and consulting engineers, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, and fire protection (MEP) to resolve conflicts and deliver fully coordinated, constructible solutions. Expertise in leveraging technical knowledge and construction site experience to perform quality control reviews of both internal staff and external consultants’ documentation. Deep knowledge in Construction Administration (CA), with a focus on developing efficient CA workflows, standards, and templates to improve processes and ensure seamless collaboration with construction managers and contractors. As Director of Technical Design, I lead a team of firm-wide technical resource specialists, driving consistency and technical excellence in standardization and architectural practice proficiency. Throughout my career, my approach to the craft of architecture has guided me while leading multi-disciplinary architectural and consulting engineering teams, including Project Architect for the restoration of Grand Central Terminal and in leadership roles for quality control and construction administration on Lincoln Center, Penn Station, and the Jacob Javits Convention Center. I have successfully applied my broad-based and versatile experience to mixed-use/high-rise residential, office buildings, hotels, museums, educational facilities, student dormitories, and supportive housing. I serve on the Dean’s Council for the School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo, as well as on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the University at Buffalo Alumni Association. I was honored with the 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award and the 2018 Volunteer Service Award from the University at Buffalo.
