An experienced senior policing professional approaching 3 decades of law enforcement experience primarily focussed on complex crime Investigations and coupled with extensive leadership experience across a range of critical incident risk management incidents. A proven operational and strategic leader selected by the executive branch of the police service as the South Wales leader of the year in 2022. Latterly as head of a large police department overseeing criminal justice delivery and efficiency. Currently head of Major Crime at South Wales Police. An experienced detective with an extensive case book investigating a range of crime types including managing complex category A homicide investigations, cold case investigation, serious sexual offences, kidnap and extortion incidents. Adept at applying critical thinking and problem solving to a range of complex problems. Extensive experience leading large teams through incident risk management, health and safety management, media management, partnership engagement, budget planning and extremely focussed on leading people in ways that maximise their innate potential. Strategy and policy lead for criminal justice disclosure, Disaster Victim Identification, PIP 4, Investigative Research and Strategy. Strong operational background in a number of policing disciplines including complex crime, strategy and public order leadership and management. Academic achievement includes a degree in Environmental Studies from Glamorgan University and a Masters degree in Strategic and operational police Leadership from the University of Wales Trinity St David’s.
