Two things Soldiers should know as they approach the end of their military careers:(1) “Retirement is a process, not an event.” Retiring well from the military takes time, study, introspection, and networking. Be ready for change and understand you don’t know what you don’t know.(2) Once you’ve retired from the military, realize that “Your mission has changed, but your duty has not.” Your mission will no longer be training and deploying to fight and win our nation’s wars, but the Army still needs you. Your new mission will be to "Hire and Inspire." Help Veterans find jobs. Mentor them. Inspire the next generation to serve in the military by setting the example with your life. Connect Americans with the Army that defends them. Tell them about the things you learned that made you successful today. What did you experience in the military that America's youth would also benefit from tomorrow. Help Americans understand who Soldiers and a Veterans really are. Be a Soldier for Life.
