About Mark Owen

I am a partner with Taylor Wessing LLP specialising in complex IP and information law issues. I'm both an English solicitor and a member of the California Bar. My practice involves counselling and representing clients across a wide range of IP and digital law issues, under both UK and EU law. Clients come from all sectors, though are often digital media businesses of one sort or another. I've acted on numerous transactions and in many pieces of litigation around rights in technology, brands, copyrights, personalities and business models, at all levels up to and including the UK Supreme Court. I also advise on a range of commercial issues including data protection and privacy, marketing and advertising law, and content regulatory matters. I have been a member of the California Bar since 1992 and have acted in software copyright, trade secrets and semiconductor patent disputes in the US. Many of the clients I represent are US corporations who are active in Europe or face threats from EU entities. I work frequently with colleagues in offices in other jurisdictions to provide cross-border and multinational solutions. I am a member of the INTA Internet Committee and the Law Society's IP Committee. I write on IP and digital legal issues frequently and speak at conferences in the UK, Europe and US.
