About Mark Peabody
After graduation from SDSMT I went to work for Met-Mex Peñoles at their Zinc plant in Torreon, Mexico. I spent time in leach, purification, electrowinning, melting and casting and in the powder plant. I then returned to the US and after two years at FMC in Green River, WY I hired on with Inspiration Copper, which became Cyprus Minerals, Phelps Dodge and Freeport. My total time with Freeport was counted as 32 years. I took a leave of absence to assist Grupo Mexico with start up of their 2nd EW in Cananea and their refinery in Nacozari and also with Sterlite's refinery in Silvassa, India. I then returned to Cyprus and while waiting for the Phelps Dodge purchase to finalize I assisted Great Western Chemicals with reagent sales. Over the years I have acquired metallurgical experience in hydro metallurgy, leaching, solvent extraction, Electrorefining, electrowinning, base and precious metals, plant operations, dewatering, refractory, pre-feasability studies and increasing levels of administration up to plant management and a short stint as acting vice-president.
